Exchange: XL JAZZ

Since 3 years now I am colaborating with Arthur Schmidt in a project called XL Jazz, an orchestra of (semi)professionals and advanced amateur musicians. We work during a week in august on new repertoire, and play concerts in a.o. the Bim Huis in Amsterdam. Also, every edition has been recorded on CD; we work together with inspiring designers and music producers.

In the edition of 2010 I invited to young Brazilian musicians, guitarist Paulinho Paes and trumpet player Roger Brito to take part inthe project, with rewarding results. So, to celebrate this exchange of young talented musicians, we decided to continue this initative. In the version of 2011, we invited again two Brazilian talents to join us in this orchestral project. Paulinho once more turned out be an inspiring and gifted musician and we were happy to receive Alexandre Lora, pandeiro player de qualidade! We are researching now the possibilities to organize an international XL Jazz edition, to create new platforms for young musicians with an international ambition.
